Yes. WCFS has been recognized as a private Christian school by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) since 2019 (School Code: 210-521). We submit annual reports to MSDE and operate in full accordance with Maryland's laws for private Christian schools. Families enrolled in WCFS satisfy Maryland's compulsory attendance requirements.

WCFS provides extensive support including textbook and curriculum recommendations, regular workshops, staff counsel, parent discussion groups, and special events. The WCFS Ignitia online platform is also an excellent resource for subjects where parents want additional structure and guidance.
WCFS does not require a standardized curriculum. Families choose their own courses and materials, and WCFS helps guide those choices through achievement testing, staff recommendations, and individualized study plans. Unit studies are especially encouraged for elementary grades. All high school courses must meet NCAA rigor standards.
Yes. Most colleges and universities accept WCFS diplomas alongside ACT/SAT scores. WCFS utilizes NCAA rigor standards for all high school courses, ensuring college-preparatory quality that meets admissions requirements at a wide range of institutions.
WCFS provides regular community through monthly workshops, conferences, field trips, and a Student Council. We believe that identity, character, and genuine relational skills matter more than undirected mixing with many same-age peers. Our events foster meaningful community within a Christian context.
The standard WCFS school year runs September through May. However, home education is flexible by nature, and families can adapt their schedule year-round as needed.
WCFS awards high school credit based on content rigor and completion, aligned with NCAA standards. We maintain student transcripts, accept records from previous schools, and provide Student Reporting forms with multiple grading options. Student records are submitted by June 30 each year (extensions available with a fee).
Portfolio reviews are conducted twice yearly and can be done in person (at the WCFS office or at your home) or via video call. Elementary students present work samples demonstrating Regular Thorough Instruction (RTI). High school Academy students submit complete portfolios showing 100% of the course content covered.
WCFS accepts cash, checks, digital bill pay, and wire transfers. PayPal is accepted for donations and transcript fees only. For questions about tuition costs, please contact us directly as rates vary by program.
Yes. WCFS develops individualized programs for each student based on achievement testing and assessment. Study plans are customized to each child's individual needs, learning style, and family goals.
